Like all laws meant to help workers, this one will backfire. The money for higher over-time has to come from somewhere. Pay is a function of worker productivity. This law does nothing to increase productivity, so it can not result in higher pay. So employers will be be forced to cut back on hours and lower base pay. By reducing overall efficiency, average worker compensation will fall as a result of this change. Plus workers will have fewer choices and less flexible work schedules.
