The 2nd Amendment of the Bill of Rights

"For those who do not understand the meaning of 'Rights', we need to make it clear once and for all:

The 2nd Amendment does not apply to semi-automatic rifles, nor does it apply to bolt action rifles, pistols, or revolvers.  The 2nd Amendment RESTRICTS GOVERNMENT.  The technology of the firearm is irrelevant.  The restrictions on the government remain the same, regardless of the firearm.  The 2nd Amendment was not written to grant permission for citizens to own and bear arms.  It forbids the government interference in the right to own and bear arms, period.  The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed

This also applies to the other 'Rights'.  They are not granted; they stipulate inherent rights that the government may not prohibit."

Why We Need Our Guns - LewRockwell LewRockwell.com: Make no mistake about, brain-dead Biden and his gang of criminals want to take our guns away. And these efforts didn’t start with him. As James Bovard pointed out in 2020, ““’Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15,’ declared ‘Beto’ O’Rourke at a Democratic party presidential candidate debate in September. Compelling Americans to surrender their so-called assault weapons is ‘the newest purity test’ for Democratic presidential candidates, according to the Washington Post. O’Rourke and other Democratic presidential candidates, including Cory Booker, Kristin Gillibrand, and Bill de Blasio (now withdrawn from the race, as are Gillibrand and O’Rourke) have all endorsed mandatory … Continue reading →

Saving the U.S. Constitution, Part I

Forward by Fred G. Clark

The American giant towers over the world in its physical strength, greater than that of all the rest of the nations put together. But something is wrong with America.

At this high moment of history when the task of world leadership has been thrust upon us, we stand confused, reluctant, hesitant, and ineffectual. We are no longer certain what we stand for, and this, I believe, is because we have forgotten the circumstances surrounding the birth of our nation. . . . For decades it has been popular in America for the cynical intellectuals to sneer and scoff at what we call the traditions of Americanism. The instruments of this sabotage are words and thoughts — plausible half-truths, sly appeals to that spark of larceny that lurks in every human heart, subtle suggestions of an atheistic nature, and the careful nurturing of a patronizing attitude toward everything America has held to be fine and sacred. The people who planted these words and thoughts may have been either stupid or vicious, fools or foreign agents, smart-alecks, or cunning organizers.

What they were does not now matter—the thing that does matter is to counteract what they have done. Everybody in every position of leadership has to get into this act because the damage has affected every phase of our lives. The places in which this sabotage occurred were the schools, the churches, the communist-dominated labor halls, the lecture platforms, the motion pictures, the stage, the pages of our newspapers and magazines, and the radio. Every means of communication has been utilized against us. . . . The man (or nation) who has a plan—a way of life—in which he believes, has mental security. To destroy this security, one must destroy that man’s faith in his plan. Reliance on a code of life which, if held in common with one’s fellow men, brings peace of mind, develops the abilities of the group. . . . The degree to which the American code of life has been weakened can best be demonstrated by simply calling attention to the degree to which the foundation of that code has been weakened. Many people become self-conscious when discussing this foundation: I am not one of those people. That foundation (and of this there cannot be the slightest shadow of a doubt) is made up of the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule. Within this moral code, we have a complete way of life. Acceptance of these precepts takes care of every phase of human life—spiritual, political, social, and economic. . . . America was a nation of people who had faith in their political and economic systems because they had faith in God, and had built those systems around the teachings of God. Every collectivist from Karl Marx to Stalin has agreed that faith in God must be destroyed before socialism can take over.

Therefore, it was obvious that the problem of sabotaging America’s faith in America was the problem of transferring the people’s faith in God to faith in the State. That thing called morality in politics, business, and private contracts, had to be broken down. To an increasing extent the American people have come to look upon morality as an old-fashioned superstition. Religion has for many church members become a safe way of dying rather than a good way of living. . . . There are many who tell us that all this is a waste of time—that the process of socialism cannot be reversed; that once it is started it must run its course. This we do not believe—we consider it part of the fake propaganda that is poisoning our will to resist. Our first-hand experience with millions of typical Americans convinces us that there is nothing wrong with America that the truth will not correct. We must be militant.

We are no longer fighting to defend a way of life—we are fighting to get it back. Our problem is a counterrevolution. In this fight we are not going to get any important help from any political party—the politicians have been giving the people the kind of government the people say they want, and the policies in Washington will not change until the people change. And that is the job of people who know the truth and love it enough to spread it. This must be a crusade—the greatest crusade in history. Those who take part are called hard names—reactionaries, Fascists, professional patriots, apologists for special privilege, and many others. These smears are also a part of the enemy’s strategy. Our forefathers who fought the first revolution were also smeared. They too were told that they were wasting their time and their fortunes on a hopeless adventure. It would have been much easier for them to go along with the established order and try in some way or other to buy their freedom instead of fighting for it. But unlike many people today, they preferred to fight. How many people do you know today who are sitting back, confident that their bank accounts will in one way or another protect them and their families from the creeping tyranny of strong central government? That is what people [in pre-World War II] thought in Italy, in Germany, in New Zealand, in Australia, and still later, in England. All they did was put off the hour of decision and weaken their power to fight back. In America people now console themselves with the idea that it can never happen here. It seems to them unreal that people with good old-fashioned American names and fine-looking American faces could exercise the tyrannies that have always been identified with bombs, daggers, whiskers, and unpronounceable syllables. But the fact remains that it is already beginning. Most of the instruments of tyranny are already on the statute books. The means of freedom’s destruction are already in the hands of the Federal administration. You say that no administration would dare use them? All history is against that answer—in the long run, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It always has and it always will. Our best weapon is truth—we must start using it. And we must do it while there is still time.

Regain The American and Patriotic Momentum

Medlock Minute, Episode 1, Up With America Radio 4.9.22

Where the Star and Stripes and the Eagles Fly

"On April 1, 1789, almost 10 months after the US Constitution was ratified, Frederick Muhlenberg is elected the first Speaker of the House of Representatives by the First Congress meeting in New York City. After the Constitution was ratified, the federal government of the United States made its first home in New York City. On April 1, 1789, the House of Representatives had enough members present to begin and elect its first officers. Frederick Augustus Conrad Muhlenberg, a Lutheran minister, businessman and politician from Pennsylvania, was chosen as the first Speaker of the House.

Thus began the creation of a country that gained a momentum very fast because of the virtue of the people and the spirit of freedom that was unleashed.  For the next 125 years America grew and prospered and became the greatest nation on the face of the earth.  In those 125 years America did face challenges.  We fought the War of 1812.  We fought the Civil War, brother against brother.  But America, through We the People, gained its momentum again and again to continue to grow and prosper.  And will continue to do so.

America's greatness influenced many nations around the world. And because of that influence, many nations developed their own democracies or republics by copying the United States Constitution.

You're probably asking the question, why does he use the 125 years?  Because in 1913, Congress passed three bills that started to affect the American way of life and its momentum. They created the Federal Reserve, the 17th Amendment to the Constitution, and created the Internal Revenue Service.  We will address these three issues during another Medlock's Minute.

With this short history lesson, it leads me to ask the question, “What can we do to regain America's momentum?” I think everyone will agree that in the last 15 months, America has lost some of its momentum. And we might add another question, “What can we do to regain our Patriotic momentum?”

George Washington said this “The general government can never be in danger of degenerating into a despotic or oppressive form so long as there shall remain any virtue in the body of the people.”

Samuel Adams added to that, “If we would most truly enjoy the gift of heaven, let us become a virtuous people; then shall we both deserve and enjoy it. Wow, on the other hand, if we are universally vicious and debauched in our manners, though the form of our constitution carries the face of the most exalted freedom, we shall in reality be the most abject slaves.”

Therefore, virtue in the minds of the founding fathers meant placing the interest of country before the interest of self. Frugality, industry, temperance, and good moral character were essential characteristics to maintain the spirit of unity and solidarity among the nation. The Founding Fathers recognized the fact that there could be no Republic without virtue.  They further understood that developing Self-Discipline leads to Self-Mastery.

Next, we can put away all contention in our hearts. What do I mean by that?  There are forces out there that are trying to cause contention and hatred among different groups. Whether it be because of skin color or class, rich or poor, different nationalities, or different religious beliefs, the battle is raging.  But We the People as individuals and families, should be putting these contentions out of our heart.  This is very important in gaining a new American and Patriotic momentum.

Another suggestion is this.  “Seek Truth and Heed Not” to the false and evil influences in the world today. Do not listen to those voices of chaos. Do not listen to the false propaganda that is being thrown at us to confuse us. Look at the way that you think and understand things. And if you need to make a change, make that change. But we need to “heed not” to the false, the evil, the chaos and the hatred that is taking place in the world.  Seek Truth always.

Look at the world with the heart and eyes of a child and life will become more beautiful.

Babe Ruth said, “It's hard to beat a person who never gives up.”

NEVER, NEVER give up on America.  We at Up With America ask for your support and commitment to do your part to Regain the American and Patriotic Momentum.

And that Folks, is the Medlock Minute.

Drill Baby, Drill!

MASSIVE U.S. OIL SUPPLY
About 6 months ago, there was a news program on oil and one of The Forbes Bros. was the guest. The host said to Forbes, "I am going to ask you a direct question and I would like a direct answer; how much oil does the U.S. Have in the ground?" Forbes did not miss a beat, he said, "More than all the Middle East put Together."
The U.S. Geological Service issued a report in April 2008 that only Scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since 1995) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota, western South Dakota, and Extreme eastern Montana.
Check THIS out:
The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska's Prudhoe Bay and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable (5 Billion barrels), at $107 a barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion. "When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their Jaws hit the floor.
They had no idea." says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature's financial analyzer. "This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years,” reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
It's a formation known as the Williston Basin but is more commonly referred to as the 'Bakken.' It stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada. For years, U.S. Oil exploration has been considered a dead end. Even the 'Big Oil' companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago.
However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's Massive reserves, And, we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is Light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!!!!! That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 2041 years Straight. And if THAT didn't throw you on the floor, then this next one should - Because it's from 2006!
U.S. Oil Discovery - Largest Reserve in the World Stansberry Report Online - 4/20/2006. Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the Largest untapped oil reserve in the world. It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush Mandated its extraction. In many recent years of high oil prices none has been extracted. With this mother lode of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore Drilling?
They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on Earth.
Here are the official estimates:
8 times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
18 times as much oil as Iraq
21 times as much oil as Kuwait
22 times as much oil as Iran
500 times as much oil as Yemen
And it's all right here in the Western United States !
HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this? Because the Environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become Independent of foreign oil! Again, we are letting a small group of people Dictate our lives and our economy. WHY?
James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we've got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East, more than 2 TRILLION barrels Untapped. That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the World today, reports The Denver Post.
Don't think 'OPEC' will drop its price even with this find? Think again! It's all about the competitive marketplace. Think OPEC just might be funding the environmentalists?
Got your attention yet? Now, while you're thinking about it, do this:
Pass this along. If you don't take a little time to do this, then you should stifle yourself the next time you complain about gas prices, by doing NOTHING, you forfeit your right to complain.
Now I just wonder what would happen in this country if every one of you sent this to everyone in your address book.
